Washington, DC United States Senator Elizabeth Warren today released the following statement in reaction to President Obamas State of the Union address:
President Obama laid out an encouraging plan for how we can move our country forward. The President showed he is ready to take action now to help level the playing field for hard-working families. Raising the minimum wage for federal contract workers and expanding access to early childhood education are important steps, and I applaud the president's leadership. Even so, we need to do more together to ensure that all of our kids have a chance at a quality, affordable education and real opportunities for success. Im committed to working with my colleagues in the Senate to make the kinds of investments in education, research, and infrastructure that help us build a future not just for some of us, but for all of us.

(28,858 posts)I read that Warren thinks that Obama could do more, but that
what he did tout was good.
She then said that they all need to work together to improve
this country and make life better for all Americans.

(8,352 posts)She used very specific works that within the context of the overall communication do convey that she has issues with this President.
She starts by stating it is an 'encouraging plan' and she 'applauds Obama's leadership.' She then uses a 'but' qualifier to give her actual communication which gives us her thoughts on what she feels is important different from the President and how she feels it needs to be accomplished.
"I like you a lot, BUT I am not in love with you"
"You are a really good employee, BUT I am sorry, we have to let you go."
So, while it was hardly a big disagreement, it was still not as rah-rah as many may wish to influence us in to believing.

(6,234 posts)Some here are content with anything so long as a Democrat did it. That, to them, is a victory. We sent Obama to the White House with s majority in the House and a supermajority in the Senate, yet we were told that wasn't nearly enough to pass anything or advance a liberal agenda in Washington. Apparently we need all three branches at 100% before we can move even one tiny step to the left.
Lacking that there is nothing for it but to leap to the right on every issue. The Democratic controlled Senate and White House are PASSING cuts to food stamps and unemployment, they merrily making the Bush tax cuts permanent, and ramming through Corporatist insurance mandates and free trade, and this is considered the best we can do. Fuck that.
If Warren wants to vote like a Republican than it's time for her to go home.

(32,056 posts)you're going to have to give a little more detail. For example: Rubio, Cornyn, and Cruz voted AGAINST this bill. That tells me that it is a good clean bill that the smarter dems knew they could pass and do the least amount of damage. As opposed to the cray cray Repugs who would've slashed a whole lot more if given free reign.
I am willing to support either Hillary or Elizabeth as the candidate down the road (there are others as well).

Alpha the hell up.
Forget cuddling and sensitivity, forget listening and being their best girlfriend ever, forget everything you learned as a boy about what women want, and for god's sake don't listen to the advice of any females. If I were to guess you are probably a NICE guy who cares a great deal about other people. More, I suspect that to you women are special magical creatures deserving of respect and consideration and pursuit -- you probably believe that you aren't good enough for them. Hell, your post says as much.
Wipe that BS out of your mind right now. You're smart, which means you probably tried to figure all this stuff out logically, based on the information you have been given all your life, and when it doesn't work you assume the problem is you. It's not. The problem isn't YOU, it's with the information you have been given. As they say, garbage in garbage out.
Confidence with women, like anything in life, just takes a little practice. Fortunately there are quite a few women out there to practice on. So turn on your brain and apply it to the problem. Instead of trying to do what everyone says you are supposed to do, instead do what WORKS -- in your case that would be the opposite of what hasn't worked thus far. Talk to every attractive woman you see. Say hello, ask them out to coffee, offer them a fifty for a blow job. Whatever. Go ahead and fuck up, it's okay -- there are a hundred million more of them so who the hell cares. Stop giving a damn what they think. Stop CARING so damn much, stop liking them and worshipping them. Fuck that, if they want to be treated well they can damn well earn it. I
f you are having trouble finding the confidence to get started, that's easy to fix too. PRETEND. You think Brad Pitt is really as "cool" as he seems in the movies? You think Tom Cruise really does the impossible? Hell no. It's called acting. So the next time you're feeling nervous ACT like one of these guys. Ask yourself how James Bond would ask out this woman, and do that. Believe it or not, that's how you build successful habits. And for Cthuhlu's sake don't fall in love with the first chick that you win. You're a wolf, a predator, so keep hunting.
Anyway, good hunting my friend.
overtly sexist taunts towards women who seek equality:

It's not appealing and uninspiring. It does not invite participation or discussion. So if 80% of the public at large reject her and those like her, it's no wonder -- she rejected them first.
And, of course, favors repealing Obamacare:

Elizabeth Warren is doing a terrific job as a freshman Senator. Those who would nitpick her voted and reject her for making sure that a workable Farm Bill passes should all go file their candidacy for the Senate at their earliest opportunity. They won't, and Elizabeth Warren will continue to be an outstanding progressive Senator.

Agree to disagree, but in most instances we do tend to join together and if Virginia is the template for the upcoming 2014 elections, Dems will prevail and hopefully can repair the economy by keeping and creating jobs here in the USA, raising minimum wage, more people covered by healthcare, better education, restoring SNAP and other cuts that right now must be compromised because the other party refuse to work with the American people.
