Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI have spent all day trying to figure out what that statement
"I'll break you in half. Like a boy." truly means. Please allow me to say that if this guy lived in meighborhood, former FBI agent or not, my children would be allowed nowhere near him or his home given that he even made that statement. But is he implying "just" violence or violence/perversity? Use your imagination...right?
Years ago, I chaired a committee and we had this nutjob lady who was quite possibly the most argumentative person with whom I have ever had to deal personally. She was getting out of hand - quite unruly - and I politely (no, REALLY!) asked her if she could restrain herself. Her response unhesitatingly was, "Suck my dick!"
I stood there in stunned silence for what must have seemed like an eternity in front of a now-hushed room. And then I asked her, "What does that even MEAN?" Everyone else burst out laughing and she of course, started really haranguing me. But the peals of laughter just drowned her out.
I felt the same way as I had that night when I heard the Congressman's epithet directed at that reporter. Weird, eh?
YUCK! all the way around...

(12,608 posts)that he is not a man , but like a boy. That he can easily defeat him. Just my opinion.

that is somehow a very strange statement, IMO. Hauntingly strange, if you ask me...coming from a grown man who has been in law enforcement.

(3,871 posts)enforcement really take on the bottom of the barrel. I can't imagine him passing an FBI test but who knows. I'm trying to imagine the stunned look on your face when that woman said that to you. I mean, OMG!

Pretty standard "tough guy" bravado. Belittle someone by questioning their manhood.

(19,288 posts)But it sounds perverted to me. Years ago I worked with a therapy tech who also worked at the prison. He was for ever commenting to people he disagreed with that he was going to shove something up them, then break it off.
Very tiresome. What does that even mean? It just sounds gruesome and perverted, as well.
Power trippers.

(20,885 posts)It could just be a "slip of the tongue," but I think it leads to weird things, subliminally. It evokes a few strange and cruel images, but I can't say which.

IF he were a member of the Democratic Party he would have been forced to resign by now.b He didn't just threaten to break him in half like a boy; he said he'd throw the reporter over the rail. One more Giuliani ReTHUG

(2,518 posts)You said "meighborhood."
Please don't edit that!
These people just put their psyches out there for everyone to see. And they have no idea what their behavior says about them.

(42,331 posts)Seems like a "short guy" insult, along with the criminal intimidation. Short men, bald men, and tall women are all subject to open and subtle insults on a regular basis and it's usually accepted without objection.
