We changed our residency to Texas last year. (We're fulltime RVers so we pick a residency state.) Voting for Wendy will be my first vote as a new Texan. Yay!

I've been here as a silent and very appreciative reader since 2003. Now that I'm retired from public education, I decided to get a new hobby and join the fray.

I used to live in Third Ward until it became The Museum District and I couldn't afford the property taxes.

What part of Texas are you located?

Is it legal to phone bank from out of state? If donations are allowed from out of state, what's the limit?

Wendy Davis is getting very large donations from out of state from the likes of Barbara Streisand, Martina Navratilova (sp? the tennis player) Emily's list, etc.. I don't know if there is a limit or what it is. Someone from Houston gave her a million dollars, I think.

Letitia Van de Pute is a very smart, capable, personable candidate for attorney general. She needs support too. She's a Latina, a pharmacist from San Antonio, presently in the Texas Senate.

You can go to Burnt Orange Report for a link to a video of both of them speaking at the Travis County Democrats meeting last night.

Greg is a weak campaigner and so far is running a bad campaign but Dan Patrick is truly crazy. I believe that Dan Patrick will beat out Dewhurst and be the GOP nominee for Lt. Governor.

BTW, I have heard that Leticia is going to come to Fort Bend County sometime this Spring.

... I could have sworn it was woven. That is some fine quilting! I'm not in Texas, so I can't vote for her. But wouldn't it be neat if all her needlepoint fans made a quilt of the same dimensions and then have a big fund raising dinner and have a silent auction, all monies to the campaign coffers?

Thanks for supporting Wendy Davis!

It'd sure be great to have a Democratic Lieutenant Governor in office to back her up (Texas is a weak governor state) so if you're looking for other awesome candidates to support there's also Leticia Van de Putte

I have a whole bunch of family who can and will--brothers, sisters-in-law, aunts, cousins, and only a couple of them (my dad, for one) will cancel them out with a vote for whichever right wing idiot is on the other side of the ballot.

Things are changing fast in Texas. I know so many Texans who have been living in NYC and are now hitting retirement age and moving back home to retire. Lots of people in the arts and finance are going to be changing neighborhoods, running for local office and voting.

Wouldn't it be fantastic for a pro choice, female Democrat was the Governor of Texas?

Wendy has my vote for sure and also Leticia Van de Putte. Van de Putte (who is Hispanic) is running as Dem for Lt. Governor. In Texas, this is the most powerful seat in the legislature. Let's help both of them win.

She's the first candidate in a state I don't even live in to whom I've donated money. And I will probably give her a nice chunk of my tax refund this year too!
