It’s 2014, Feel Free to STFU Now Ann — An Open Letter to Ann Romney

Good God, Ann Romney!

I hate to pick on one single, solitary sentence and build a mountain of vitriol against someone for that one sentence, but what you just said in an interview on Fox News is just wrapped up in far too much derp for me to just let it slide. In case you forgot, and for anyone reading this, here’s what you said, ”We lost, but truly the country lost by not having Mitt as president.” Without even a trace of irony in your voice.

Now, I get it. You’re Mitten’s wife, and as anyone’s partner would, I can understand you being loyal to and defending Mitt. But sweet Jesus, woman. Let it go. Your man lost, and he didn’t lose by a tiny bit. It’s generally agreed that your husband was the victim of a massive electoral beat down, and frankly Mrs. Romney you played a part in your husband’s demise. I truly don’t care that you and your hubby have multiple homes and that one of them has an elevator for your cars in the garage. I don’t care that you actually own a dancing horse. It doesn’t bother me that you and Mitt have probably sheltered more money from the IRS than I’ll ever see in my lifetime. Well, okay that last one bothers the shit out of me and I think it’s why millions of Americans didn’t vote for your husband, but we’ll get to that.

The point is that even though all of that is completely foreign to me and many like me, just the mere existence of opulence in your life is not what turned me off. It might have turned off others; I don’t know. I’m not really the jealous type. Because we all cry ourselves to sleep sometimes. It’s just that for people like you and Mitt, you cry yourself to sleep in a bed three times as large as most of our bedrooms, and your tears fall onto pillows with higher thread counts than most of us have money in our bank accounts all year. So you’re rich. Big whoop.

But the part you played in your husband’s demise was that you made the same mistake that dipshit, billionaire Tom Perkins — who recently said the rich are treated like Jews were treated in Germany — made. You victimized yourself. Every chance you got, instead of doing what the Kennedy women did and getting down and dirty with the people, trying your best to appear sympathetic to them, you either put on airs to make yourself seem more glamorous, or you bitched about how you and your rich buddies were treated. You kvetched about Mitt being asked to release more than two years of tax returns. At every fork in the road where you and Mitt could have shown even a sliver of your humanity, you failed. Miserably so, and instead we all just got the impression that you were just another middle-aged, pampered, white lady with extremely high opinions about what her wealth means she’s entitled to.

Well, goddess, Mitt will be god. Seriously, this is what Mormonism teaches. So if James thinks she acts all high and mighty now, just wait until after she is dead or her god-to-be husband cheats his way into the WH.
