(12,448 posts)It's hard to judge those first half dozen Presidents, they were defining everything as they went. The whole concept of America was unique, no colony had ever before successfully broken away from its parent nation, and the concept of "consent of the governed" was a radical spawn of The Enlightenment, so none of them had any precedent to go by.

More likely to favor military intervention as a means of solving foreign policy problems.: this is not true.
And the smoking thing is weird. I'm not against smoking. I smoke. I just hate it. I smoke alone so the smoke doesn't get on anyone else. I can't stand people smoking in my face or in the car with me. Gross.
And I'm apparently Neurotic. That's true.
And I do love Broccoli.
This thing works.

More likely to simply avoid people who are hostile to you, or with whom you are in disagreement.
And I'd like that simple bacon to be apple-smoked, wrapping grilled scallops, and on a bed or arugula. Oh, and served with a nice crisp white.
