I used to drive semis for a living and whenever I was in Kansas, especially out on the two-lane roads, Whenever i saw a house that was run down and probably abandoned I'd get on the CB and start asking, "Is that Dorothy's house over there?"

I have special place in my heart for Kansas and the rule that I was told back then was, "Never drive across Kansas during the day unless you have enough drugs to get to the other side!" (A very old joke, of course. Same rule for Nebraska because the sameness that goes on for hour after hour can put you to sleep.)
