All Of The Big Automakers Are Reporting Big Sales Drops

Here's a tally:

Ford: -7.5% (2.3% estimated)
GM: -12% (-2.5%)
Chrysler: +8% (+5.4%)
Toyota: -7.2% (-2.7%
Nissan: +11.8% (+10%)
Suburu: +19%
Volkswagen: -19%

First, people are concentrating paying off their bills from the Holidays.

Second, all the car companies hype buying a car before the first of the year.

I would be surprised if they stayed the same, or went up.

The pent-up demand from the low sales in previous years may also have been satisfied by the high sales numbers posted in 2013.

it's because everybody is either fucking broke or smart enough to realize that buying a new car is probably the worse investment one can make unless they really really really need one.

Jeeps and Subarus probably stole some sales from the others with all the snow. And, January car sales are always down and the storms likely pushed them down further.

disclose your gas mileage, etc. I suspect that may be at least a small part of it.

January 2014 sales figures, and I assume those are for January, don't show the real picture.

Ford just had one of their best years ever in 2013, and Ford has been around forever.

Let's wait a while before we jump to a conclusion.
