Pay attention, GA Gov., this is how it's done

I'm in NW Ohio and we're getting 10" of snow tonight, on top of the nearly 60" we've got already.

Our mayor and county sheriff just gave a press conference. The mayor declared a snow emergency level 3 at 11:30pm tonight. That means no driving unless you're a doctor, nurse, public servant, safety employee or journalist. If you're caught driving and you don't have a really good, provable excuse, you get ticketed and hauled off to jail. Your car is towed at a cost of $150. If you need to go to the hospital, you call 911, not drive yourself. Our taxes pay for ambulance rides.

It works. We'll all stay home and let the plows and salt trucks do their job. 11:30pm gives the 2nd shift factory workers to head home, while 3rd shifts tonight and 1st shifts tomorrow have been canceled. Most businesses are closed for tomorrow too. If it's not essential, it gets shut down.

Atlanta's mess should never happen again. Our system works to keep everyone safe and they should consider adopting the way we handle bad weather here. I felt so bad all those people and kids had to spend so many hours in their cars. There's no excuse for that.

If you're in the path of this storm, stay safe and warm. April will be here before you know it
