a) elimination of all subsidies to the oil industry
b) Implementation of an effective cap and trade system that will guarantee that we substantially reduce our national carbon output every year.

If we had those things, then I'd say, sure, build the pipeline. Approving the pipeline without anything in return is a horrible idea.

I listened to him yesterday and so wanted to call him and tell him the Koch's stand to make billions on the pipeline. More money to destroy our democracy to buy their puppet politicians. I am traveling back by car from Arizona to San Francisco and don't want to burn up my cell phone minutes on hold otherwise I would have called yesterday or today.

Dakota. Maybe he is getting ready to run for office. He was once a Repbulican, converted to the Democratic party, so I wouldn't be surprised if he is building up his creds right now. Last night's show will be the last for me, unless I hear he has changed his mind.

in Detroit Lakes, MN. It's less than a hour down wind of that big train wreck that smoked out Fargo and probably dumped some really oily soot all over his place, his boat, his favorite fishing hole and possibly did some harm to his nice airplane.

He's now arguing that it's about "safety" but he seems to have a pretty myopic view of safety. Sudden;y safety and environmental health are mutually exclusive in hie mind.

He seems to be good pals with Brian Schweitzer, the mining shill of Montana who has sold out his ranching buddies. So, I would imagine he might have purchased some stock recently too.

He claims he'll keep addressing it on his show... he keeps arguing that oil is it and we can't replace it quickly and that if we don't build the pipeline, we'll lose money and cheap oil... Both his "guests" last night told him, straight up, that if the pipeline doesn't get built, the tarsands will have to cease because they can't transport it... and that's the goal. He is still being stupid-stubborn about it though. Hopefully he will hear enough to make him reconsider, it's happened before.

But I won't be holding my breath waiting for that.

Meanwhile:

Public comment period on the pipeline starts today...

I try to like him but, "enviros"?

I guess then Ed doesn't consider himself an environmentalist. I'm done with him for good.
