Poor people will stop working if they get free healthcare?

And they will have no concern about paying their rent or feeding their families? Baloney!

Now it is true, if they are stuck in a low-paying job, with an employer that sucks, they may feel they have the freedom to look elsewhere.

It is also true that these employers may have to pay a little more in wages to keep these employees, once they have the freedom to look for another job without being enslaved by employer-based insurance.

This is one of the best features in the ACA. In effect, it is almost like a concession to a union demand for every worker in America. This is good.

Also, for those folks that are in their fifties or early sixties and who are working at a place mostly for the insurance coverage, and some with pre-existing conditions, this is a godsend. They can retire early or they may want to become self-employed or they may want to look for a better job. Employers can no longer make unusual demands or make subtle threats towards these employees.

So some of these employees may lose some of their employees. They can continue to work short-handed or they can hire someone to replace the workers that might leave their job. Most employers in America do not have excess labor on their payroll. The cost of labor is at the top of their agenda.

Furthermore, when employers start looking for workers, instead of vice-versa, the cost of labor usually goes up. With the long drought in wage increases and with the debate about increasing the minimum wage, this is a very good development. Jobs will not be lost, more jobs will be created.
