The Record: Port Authority fox trot; Internal review by commissioners is a farce!

A GROUP of political appointees is forming a committee to study how to reduce the destructive influence of political appointees. Only inside the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey does this make sense.

The Port Authority has been larded like a huge roast with political appointees. Governor Christie has put 50 patronage hires into the authority.

Thanks for posting.

Here is something I don't understand -

"The lane closures were ordered by Wildstein for reasons still unclear. His subordinates at the Port Authority have said they were told to tell no one about the closures and that while they knew the closures were wrong, they feared retribution."

If Wildstein did not have a job description how did he have subordinates? Without a job description you don't fit in the flow chart so you don't have a boss and you don't have underlings. ?????

As for the destructive influence aspect the answer is obvious - just get rid of all the patronage jobs. You don't need a commission to figure that out.
