Romney wants an America more like China

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/09/mitt-romney-chinese-regulators_n_1334799.html

I got the chance after I lost to John McCain last time, to go over to -- that was the good part of losing -- I got to go to the Olympic Games in China. It's pretty impressive over there how quickly they can build things, how productive they are as a society. You should see their airport compared to our airports, their highways, their train systems. They're moving quickly in part because the regulators see their job as encouraging private people. It's amazing. The head of Coca-Cola said the business environment is friendlier in China than in America. And that's because of the regulators. That's because of government.

BEIJING: Thirteen people died after a capsule plunged into a pit at an iron ore mine in China's eastern Shandong province Thursday, official state media reported.

The accident happened at the Shimen mine in the city of Linyi, Xinhua news agency said, quoting local authorities.

A search had been completed and 13 people were confirmed dead, said a provincial government official, according to the report.

Initial investigation suggested the capsule dropped after a steel rope broke, the official said.

The provincial government had set up an investigation team and a further probe was under way.

Accidents are common in China's notoriously dangerous mining industry.

The lack of regulations makes it unsafe to work and live in China and unhealthy to breath or drink the water in China.

I have been in China too, last trip was more than 1 year ago, and I doubt anything changed since then, but the first day I was there, you could not see the buildings on the other side of the street from the hotel I was staying.

Lack of regulations means you can't see your neighbor or breath the air and your on your own with the water.

I would say it was pretty oppressive and not very impressive.

He feels government's job is to see to it his costs are low and his profits high, whatever that costs anyone else, either individually or en masse[i/].

4. Didin't Michele Bachmann say she wanted America less socialist...like China?

Ah, yes!

Bachmann: America Should Be Less Socialist… Like China

Michele Bachmann thinks America blew it by extending a safety net to millions of Americans under President Johnson’s “Great Society.” Her solution? Model the economy after communist China.

“The ‘Great Society’ has not worked and it’s put us into the modern welfare state,” she said. “If you look at China, they don’t have food stamps. If you look at China, they’re in a very different situation. They save for their own retirement security…They don’t have the modern welfare state and China’s growing. And so what I would do is look at the programs that LBJ gave us with the Great Society and they’d be gone.”

it's kind of amazing how these patriotic Republicans are so over-the-top in their praise of China, both of them openly stating that China's system is superior to America's, Bachmann even promising to use China as a model.

Of course you like it. The establishment gets to pick their man, and the teabaggers would face cops in riot gear if they didn't like it.

not an MBA or law degree. So sorry for you Mitt, you wouldn't get far in Chinese politics.

The Chinese have high taxes and high reinvestment in their infrastructure with a lot less spending on their military. They have strict regulations but one party systems are easy to bride and corrupt the public officials.

Who's killing high speed rail here? Regulators of people like Mitt? Who's preventing reinvestment into our society Paul let's cut food stamps, and medicare or the regulators. Lets flag down a cab and head towards real street. To be more like China is to have much more state control of banking, taxation, and infrastructure spending. You think Mitt wants that.
