Dear DU, a simple request

It is time to put the hearts (raise a few $) back up for 2014.

I have a few friends to give them to.

7. I have always opposed the Valentines at DU.

I was a nerdy little kid in elementary school.
Existing in the nether regions outside the Cliques of Middle Childhood, I didn't get many Valentines.
Some kids had to ask the teacher for a box to carry all their valentines home.
I could usually put both of mine in my top pocket (and one of those was from myself).
The criteria I chose for giving Valentines was to give them to those I thought wouldn't get any.
That was always a tough day for The Nerds and others who didn't quite fit in

OTOH, that experience DID promote developing personal Values and an internal Moral Compass.
It nurtured the ability to NOT always follow the crowd or care so much about what others think.
It made it easier to choose The Road Less Traveled when arriving at those crossroads in life.
