If 1/3 of the US college population is true then you wonder what the devil we are up to in the US. Now that college is becoming less affordable for American citizens colleges need foreign students to fill our the classes. So we are training our competitors and denying our own. Everything is getting so damned crazy you can't keep track any more.
We are truly demented in this country. We send our soldiers into pointless war serving multiple tours in combat. Yet we do not take care of them. We cut military pensions and give the saving to the rich. We screw our own children with college debt and educate students from countries that want to sink us economically.
The God damned GOP waves the flag, yells patriotic crap while they sell us out as a country and all these stupid bastards keep voting them in. You just want to pull your hair out.

(9,289 posts)25% of international college students in the USA are Chinese but only 4% of college students in the USA are international students.

(24,853 posts)Are the Chinese not considered Asian?
The chart says Asians comprise less than 6% of the total college registration in 2012. I guess that puts the OP's claim to bed, no?

(11,940 posts)That they rent/let out. My MILs house was bought that way, and the house across the street from us. I'm hoping a single family moves in next to us, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

However, China continues to be the largest source of international graduate students, representing 34% of all international graduate students in the United States, according to survey respondents.

Or Chinese international graduate students would be 5% of US graduate students -- although in some fields, and in some universities, the percentage is much, much higher.

(10,602 posts)My thought was that it just seem like we have an element in this country that cares more about the well being in other countries and not ours. Out political establishment puts Americans in last place.

(10,602 posts)In a way my post was part of being a bit facetious. My view is that our political establishment particularly conservatives put American workers and Americans last. I do not buy into all this flag waving shit they push. They are selling out the country. KInd of like treason you know.
Things do NOT add up. They are up t something else which is more dangerous than terrorism.

(2,397 posts)At least the majority of the students I tutored did. When I tutored them while I was in Shenyang, they had poor English speaking abilities. They wanted me to teach them things they could memorize for their Visa interview. And they weren't trying for UCLA or Stanford. If it was a low level school in Midwest that would accept them, fine. Though, not all passed Visa interview. Key word: memorize. Thats the Chinese education system. No critical thinking whatsoever.

(53,339 posts)This was widely-reported at the time. International students here are at a record high, with one-third of them from China. The AP report:
BY Associated Press November 11, 2013 at 10:25 AM EST
WASHINGTON Hundreds of thousands of Chinese students are flocking to U.S. colleges and universities, helping to drive the number of international students studying in America to record levels.
...
All told, 819,644 students came to the United States to study abroad in the 2012-13 school year. The highest numbers were from China, India, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Canada. Thats a record high, with a 7 percent increase from a year earlier and 40 percent from more than a decade ago. Despite the increases, international students make up less than 4 percent of all students.
...
About 235,000 of the international students were from China, a 21 percent increase. A burgeoning middle class combined with a view that America has quality colleges and universities were factors cited as driving the demand. About one-third studied business and management once they arrived, the report said.

(10,602 posts)Americans should be outraged because what your post says is that America is not for American citizens anymore. Dems can be blamed for not fighting what is going on. But the GOP and its business allies are screwing all of us.

(135,425 posts)Maybe one third of foreign exchange students, but there is no way that a third of the population of colleges is Chinese. You can't spit in Boston without hitting a college, the city is chock-a-block full of students.
I think we'd notice if there were an enormous population of young Chinese people running around town. Since we've got kids in schools here, I think we'd notice a ton of Asians in the dorms, and that's not happening, either.
Your source is wrong, or you mis-heard.
