Christie led Republican Governors Association sets fundraising record

The Republican Governors Association raised $6 million in January, despite what many thought could be crippling problems at home for Chairman Chris Christie.

The total haul is more than double what the association has raised during the same month anytime in its history, according to a statement from the RGA.

Christie, who has been beset by controversies over September lane closures at the George Washington Bridge and allegations that members of his administration used Hurricane Sandy relief funds to strong arm the mayor of Hoboken into supporting a development project championed by the governor, also reportedly raised $1.5 million last week during a swing through Texas.

Rove said some of the $6 million may be from "tactical" decisions to renew fundraising commitments in January instead of December or February.

"But obviously some of it is the star power and the energy that he is putting out there going to places around the country to hold fundraisers for the RGA," Rove said.

Republican Governors are hiding from the corrupt asshole, and Rove and the GOP are still trying to make him look viable.
