We had Tortoises when I was growing up - male and female and they dug a nest in the background - really a deep kind of cave (well deep for Tortoises).

The best part about mowing the lawn was the male Tortoise (George (I think in a fit of creativity we named them George and Georgette)) would try to chase the lawnmower in an attempt to defend his warren, by driving it off.

He wasn't very effective.

Alas, I don't have any pets because I'm not home much. I also travel and don't think it's fair to an animal to shuffle it to a kennel. My cousin thinks that it's weird not to have any pets. My mom was a huge animal lover. We always had something running around. Cats, dogs, birds, etc.
