This is what the Republican Party did not want to happen...

Bad news for Republicans: Obamacare is helping their voters too

Not all Republicans agree; one is Irene Jacusis of New Port Richey, who was uninsured until now. “I did not vote for Obama," she said. "But I am so in love with this plan, with this health care plan, what can I do?"

She knows that her party wants to repeal it. "But I don’t think they’re going to," she said. "There are too many people out there who need this and require it.” She says her husband Ronald died last year from a rare sarcoma because he waited too long to see a doctor after he felt a lump.

.......................

Another Republican who wants to keep the Affordable Care Act is Mary Fallon of St. Petersburg. She was a teacher for many years, but because she was paid from grant funds she didn’t qualify for health insurance. She had to buy her own policy, but then she got sick. Hello, pre-existing condition.

Fri Feb 14, 2014, 05:25 PM
Feb 2014

The problem for them is that that propaganda doesn't work so well when it flies in the face of actual personal experience.

The big risk for them now is that if they continue the propaganda people will finally see it for what it is. At that point people will realize that they've been believing information that's coming from sources that don't have their best interests at heart, and they'll start questioning the things they're told by sources such as Fox News.

If people finally catch on and right-wing propaganda becomes a lot less effective then Republicans are screwed.

Article after article, not just in the RW echo chamber, but in the "mainstream" media as well, saying "Once you get our voters sucking on the government teat, we'll never wean them off it. I fucking hate voters". They didn't put it quite like that, of course, but that was the gist of it.

Over the next year more and more people will find out that the ACA is actually good for them, and as the program gets tweaked, and the bugs get weeded out, republicans will find that they will never be able to get rid of the ACA, and it's a base for a real universal health care plan in the future. It will drive republicans insane, or more insane I guess!

Feb 2014

I can't tell you the number of times I've heard repugs say "We have a plan" without enumerating it. I'm so sick of them blowing smoke and never being challenged to detail the plan. I have yet to hear what they'll replace the ACA with at the time that they are repealing the ACA. If they don't replace it with anything they won't last until the next mid-terms. Far too many people will lose out and then we'll know who those "death panels" are really staffed by.

The MSM has given them a pass for 14 years. It's time for us to ask, loudly, rudely, publicly what those plans are, and how they are being prepared for now, rather than waiting until 2 years after some putative election 'victory' by the repugs.

Glad you're here! Don't underestimate the Stupid. Because so many of these Pox Noise devotees and their families and friends have been so seriously inculcated with this poison that it's going to be a hard habit to break. Denial runs WAY deeper than we give it credit for. It's awfully hard to force yourself to let go of feelings and beliefs you've embraced and clung to for years, and had reinforced for so many years of this brainwashing. And that's what it's been. A relentless, calculated brainwashing. We have A LOT of work to do to reverse that trend - that's been at least 30 years in the making. The bad guys have a huge head start. But at least we're waking up and starting to recognize the need to confront this evil and defeat it.

And we MUST do so, if our country is going to survive.

17,000 People Will Die Uninsured in Red States Because GOP Leaders Refused Medicaid Expansion

Simone Sanner
February 6, 2014

Dr. Steffie Woolhandler is co-author of the new study Opting Out Of Medicaid Expansion: the Health And Financial Impacts. The new study just released has found up to 17,000 people will die as a result of the refusal of red state governors to participate in expanded Medicaid programs.

There are 8 million people who will not receive coverage under the new law that are eligible for it. Of that 8 million, as many as 17,000 people will die having not gotten the medical care those in blue states have access to. Another 750,000 will suffer from untreated depression, diabetics will not have access to medication, and women will not have access to pap smears and mammograms.

Woolhandler attributes this to a political move on the part of red state governors, as the program is 100% completely funded by the federal government for the first three years. After those three years have passed, 90% of the costs will be funded by the federal government.

States making the investment in their people will see an approximate 50% reduction in the number of people without any health insurance whatsoever.

They are loyal to their party, their culture, their history.

It takes a long time for people to switch over something they've been doing their whole lives. Especially based on one issue.

When you meet people like this, the best way to get them to change their actual vote is to tell them to "Send a Message" to their own party by voting for the other side. And once they finally "get" the message, then go back.

Of course, given that Republican candidates refuse to get messages, that will become a habit over time.

It must be horrible to live with the fear of not being able to pay your medical bills.. I have no clue how it is but I think it must be horrible...

Thankfully I do live in a country - who have universal health care - and the last year or so - I have ended up needing it dearly 3 times because of a condition I have with my kidneys - they are not to well - a infections at the right time - and I get really sick and end up in a hospital bed for a week... Not to say the time I got really sick - pehnumia and kidney failure a the same time.... I was able to walk out the hospital 3 weeks later - after a lot of medical attention - and not with a large bill who I would never had the possibility to even pay back the interest off...

I hope one day - that US also can have universal Health care as the rest of the civilized world have - it is many ways to solve it - but it have been solved to most country when it come to the first world country's... For goods sake - even Romania have universal health care - and they are one of the poorest country's in Europe - and they have also a lot of decent doctors to boot

I do hope US also will join the civilized country's of the world - with Universal Health Care at least - but I believe it will be a uphill battle - not easy won - as it was not when our parts of the world deiced it was a smart thing to have...
