Koch Brothers Pay Actors to Pose as Louisianans Upset with Obamacare

Koch Brothers Pay Actors to Pose as Louisianans Upset with Obamacare

by ericlewis0

From ABC News:

A new political attack ad from the Koch brothers-funded group Americans for Prosperity calls on Louisianans to tell Sen. Mary Landrieu that Obamacare is hurting their families.

The ad shows a number of people, who appear to be Louisianans, opening their mail to find a letter stating that their health care policy has been cancelled because of the Affordable Care Act.

"Due to the Affordable Care Act, your monthly premium has increased," a voice-over says in the ad as a man in a rural neighborhood opens a cancellation letter and looks at his young daughter standing next to him. "No longer covered, due to the Affordable Care Act."

But the people in the emotion-evoking ad are not Louisianans at all; they are paid actors

...

"Hiring professional actors to impersonate Louisiana families is low even for the billionaire Koch brothers," Friends of Mary Landrieu Campaign Manager Adam Sullivan told ABC News. "If the Koch brothers had even a shred of credibility before launching their latest misleading ad campaign against Sen. Landrieu, they've surely lost it now."

<...>

The Koch Brothers appear to be tripling down on the money+lies=win strategy. Kinda pathetic, IMO, and symbolic of the entire GOP.

in the balls time after time by the sleazy lies these assholes spread, we refuse to defend ourselves, instead consoling ourselves with righteous indignation at the infamy of RW'ers. A winning strategy, to be sure.

Said it perfectly.

Dems and Libs would need a spine first, to be able to fight back.

But, seems like they are always too "scared" to do anything.

baffling me right now is why not many of the celebs and millionaires on our side ever really step into the messy world of politics. We see them making these endorsements in presidential elections, but why don't more of them throw some cash in Congress and State elections? Surely all of these progressive celebs and millionaires combined would be enough to offset the RW Koch/Adelson/etc influence in politics.

against Mark Begich. They got busted -- the actress was from Maryland and the ad became kind of a big joke here. She was all like, "I TRUSTED Mark Begich and he let me down." She probably couldn't pick Mark Begich out of a lineup.

New ads target Sen. Kay Hagan over health care law

By Jim Morrill

January 2, 2014

....

And Americans for Prosperity, a group aligned with the conservative Koch brothers, is spending $1.4 million on new statewide spots attacking Hagan.

Since October the group has spent $4.2 million on such ads, fueling what is already one of the country’s most expensive Senate races. All together, outside groups have spent at least $9.7 million.

....

The Americans for Prosperity ad features Sheila Salter of Chapel Hill, a Republican who runs a Triangle health care company. In it, she says her policy was canceled, leaving her with a temporary policy she says costs 20 percent more, and the promise of paying even more for a new policy.

....

According to Real Clear Politics, an average of national polls shows only 39 percent of those surveyed support the law, while 53 percent oppose it.

....

Last month the Capitol Hill Roll Call reported that no race in the country has attracted as much outside spending as North Carolina’s.

A majority in this state HATE Obamacare and they're going to take it out on Hagan in November.
