or Europe, you'll be better off. I have seen only one, and last night they cut the ceremony just as it began for the Men's Figure Skating Medal Ceremony.

The whole world is watching. And we are not looking very good right now. The MSM has been fiercely criticized everywhere for their initial 'fear tactics' trying to scare people away. I guess it backfired as their twitter accounts were filled with admonitions from all parts of the world and the world just went on without us.

Scott Hamilton is wonderful, I wish people like him were representing us as we are embarrassing ourselves around the world these days. At least they've laid off the negative commentary due to all the complaints I guess.

It's sad for the athletes also that their own country doesn't support them and puts them in an awkward position, and for what? This country needs to grow up, there's a whole big world out there that doesn't think we are as important as we think we are.

...ceremonies for all the winners were shown, regardless of sport or nation. I wish it were still that way. I enjoy everyone's moment of triumph, not just those of my countrymen.

7. Medal ceremonies held the next day

The medals are being given out the next day at the main Olympic venue in a big ceremony including lots of different sports. In figure skating, directly after the event they have a podium ceremony where the winners are announced and given flowers, but not their medals. They have been showing this on the NBCSN live coverage in the morning. I'm not sure if the other sports are doing something like that. They have some video and still photos from the medal ceremonies on the NBCOlympics.com web page under the Medals section. Just scroll down below the chart with the medal count. The LiveExtra ipad app has medal ceremonies too.

12. They do play the anthem

They do raise the flags and play the winner's anthem in the ceremony where they get the medals. I watched the medal ceremony for the team figure skating and before the skaters got their medals there were several other separate ceremonies for skiers and speed skaters and they went through the whole routine (introduce the officials presenting the medals, then the athletes take the podium, give the athletes flowers and their medals, then raise the flags and play the anthem) for each.

14. Unless Americans get the gold, they rarely show the medal ceremonies

At least on TV. Typical jingoistic Olympic coverage. And I'm guessing they don't have them available online either.
