First Bush, then Perry, now Abbott. Why is Texas sliding further backwards?

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, the GOP hopeful in this year’s race for governor, is taking heat from Democrats for inviting controversial musician Ted Nugent to campaign with him.

“Texans deserve better than a statewide office holder and candidate running for governor who welcomes Ted Nugent and his repugnant comments,” Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa said in a statement Monday. “I can’t help but recall the old saying, tell me who your friends are, and I’ll tell you who you are.”

Democrats are seizing on comments made by Nugent last month about President Barack Obama, which some suggested at the time were racially motivated.

“I have obviously failed to galvanize and prod, if not shame enough Americans to be ever vigilant not to let a Chicago communist-raised, communist-educated, communist-nurtured subhuman mongrel like the ACORN community organizer gangster Barack Hussein Obama to weasel his way into the top office of authority in the United States of America,” Nugent, who has called for Obama to be impeached, said in January.

look like voices of moderation. Maybe Republicans in Texas see things being more competitive in the future, so they're doubling down on the crazy now.

Attacking Nugent and Abbott for Nugent does not seem like a winning move.

Obama only took 41% of the vote there in 2012. He's not popular in Texas.

Better to just look for some aging washed-up rockers of your own to answer Nugent.

Has ZZ Top made an endorsement?
What about Little Texas?
Bon Jovi?

become the first African-American President. Never mind being re-elected.

Ted Nugent is a vile, racist, admitted pedophile. He pooped his pants and didn't shower for weeks to dodge the draft, then laughed about it. The interview is in rolling stone archives. It's not that the Democrats don't know how to campaign it's that sadly, Republicans don't really give a shit about the military or they wouldn't be parading this draft dodger around and pretending like he's a patriot. He's also a spokesman for the NRA and is such a dumb ass he shot his brother in the leg.

While Obama didn't carry Texas, he did win in all the good parts. He carried Houston, San Antonio, El Paso, Austin and I think Dallas. I doubt any candidate will win Texas and be anti-oil.

Fifty years ago, a Texan president shepherded through the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act.

As recently as 1994, a woman Governor was the symbol of what was good about Texas.

Even in 2012 over 3 million Texans voted for Barack Obama to get a second term as President.

Of COURSE Republicans in Texas are resorting to extremes, cutting education budgets where they can, and cavorting with trash like Nugent. They are appealing to whomever they think is still with them because they are scared shitless. That's a lot of people, unfortunately. But it can change back. Wendy Davis is Texan, too. DFA is setting their sights on Texas as the next purple-to-blue project after being successful in Virginia. You can either whine from afar, or volunteer, contribute, whatever. But you'll not change a thing by trashing all of us, and then whining when the results of inaction allow Abbott to become governor.

Just look to the few states that do have it and compare their "turn-out" with the other states. Democrats need to wake up about this before it is really too late.

Greg is running what he thinks is a safe campaign by appealing to the tea party types. This tactic worked for Perry. Greg is not the same campaigner as Perry and has been making some mistakes. I hope that Greg keeps this up.

Wendy Davis is helped by Greg being an idiot and so I am hoping that he continues

She was just elected for the third time.

She was in elected public office before that for years.

My rep is Sheila Jackson Lee.

Not so backwards here in Houston.
