(8,361 posts)it is VERY difficult to tie much of the Koch money directly to them until after an election cycle.

(5,930 posts)The splashier and more expensive the ad campaign, the less the public should trust the candidate.
If that perception becomes rooted in the public conscience, then Big Money and Citizens United are neutralized.
There needs to be a simple, catchy slogan that expresses this in such a concise and clever way that it stands a chance of going viral. Something that asks, Who payed for those ads? What do they want from their guy once he's in? But, of course, more cleverly worded.

(62,325 posts)OWS did a superb job of condensing the message about Wall St. They forced a conversation about the dangerous inequality that has taken over this country. Now a similar campaign to follow up on that message by challenging candidates to reveal their funding. This could be done on election campaign signs, in emails etc. Orgs like Moveon, eg, have the infrastructure to begin such a campaign.
And the question should be: 'Who will this candidate represent if s/he is elected, YOU or his/her Corporate Funders' and next to each candidates name, a list of who is funding them.
OWS laid the groundwork, now it's time to build on it.
I'm sure there would be plenty of volunteers to do the research on Corporate funding to each candidate.
...fucking...lutely. I've been doing my part by not purchasing anything that they sell. So far that's pretty much limited to Georgia Pacific retail products - like Brawny paper towels, Vanity Fair napkins and Dixie (cup) products - but hanging a 'poison' label around their fucking necks would be even better. Sorry for the language, but it's better than calling for them to be shot or something.

And that's not to mention the ones who used to belong, but got scared off by publicity -- but still likely support the same goals in a less overt manner, e.g.:
Republic Reports Suzanne Merkelson covered how the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, a charity set up by Microsoft founder Bill Gates, supports ALEC financially. Now, Roll Call is reporting that the Foundation is withdrawing support for ALEC: The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation today became the latest backer to withdraw financial support for the American Legislative Exchange Council. A foundation spokesman told Roll Call that it does not plan to make future grants to the conservative nonprofit, which has come under fire from progressive activists for its support of voter identification laws and other contentious measures.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation joins Kraft, Pepsi, Coca-Cola and Intuit Inc. in withdrawing from ALEC in recent weeks. Notably, some corporate interests, including the drug company lobby group PhRMA and Koch Industries, have refused to back away from ALEC. - See more at:

Gates, buffett & Koch and all of them are on the same team.
