Two Americas, liberal vs ultra conservative=SECESSION

I'm TIRED of the REPUBLICANS, the TEA BAGGERS(Koch Brothers), SOUTHERN and WESTERN states obstructing legislation that is GOOD for AMERICA.

I'm TIRED of them shredding MY CONSTITUTION!

These people are really TRAITORS to our Constitution and to AMERICA.

The Republican governors and Republican Congress, who don't want Obama Care, gun legislation, abortion, environmental laws, public schools, social security, Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment insurance, food stamps, and to allow EVERY American the right to VOTE.

These Conservatives are BLOCKING AMERICAS FUTURE.

Therefore, I think it's time for Americans to talk about SECEDING.

Europe has separate countries, so why not us? If the Republican states want to be in perpetual war with some country, let them, we don't have to be apart of their CRAZINESS.

The Republicans have NO interest in compromising on any issue, so we're really two separate countries.

What does secession mean?

It means giving up and quitting. Quitting on the liberals who do live in these states and have been fighting the good fight, and those who are unfortunate enough to have the displeasure of being born in one of these states after we leave.

Why does what happening in these states matter to you if your the type to give up? We support obama care because we actually care about the poor and uninsured. But if we let them secede you are taking away any chance of these people ever getting affordable health insurance.

Similarly why do you care about abortion, medicare, food stamps, etc if you are the type to abandon those in need? Why fight them at all if you have that mentality?

To paraphrase JFK, we do these things not because they are easy, but because they are hard. We fight for equality for EVERYONE and not just ourselves. Don't let your bitterness blind you to the very reason we support these things in the first place.

Equality and social justice for all. That is what we stand for.

I think i know where you're coming from: we don't want to abandon those who need us.

But we also need to use every tool we can to advance the cause for peace.

I think that means:
(1) voting Democratic when it makes sense to (it doesn't always: why support a pro-war Democrat?)
(2) voting Green or other third party when it makes sense to (i.e., when the Democrat is pro-war)
(3) supporting other movements which will promote peace.

And of these other movements, the secessionists, however unlikely they are to succeed, have a lot of appeal.

A war launched from Texas will have much shorter legs than one launched from the 50 states. It will also be less likely: it is much harder to whip up multiple political entities to war than a unified one, and those who do feel inclined to make war will find the cost much higher.

(There are lots of other reasons why smaller, less-empire-like countries have advantages, including much greater local control. For example, if Vermont could be free, there would be no Walmart in that state.)

On the other hand, if the status quo continues, we will be forever fighting about gun control and abortion, with absolutely no change in the status quo. The establishment will play us against each other, while it makes war around the world.

So i think secession movements are a tool to be used, and hopefully wisely.

I also am tired of Teapublicans. I am tired of polices that block progress. I tire of people who can be fooled into supporting things that are not in their best interest.
It would be nice if we could just 'make them go away'.
That ain't going to happen.
To care means that you can not turn away.......

...start to hit home in a big way.

Maintaining a vast, continental empire will much harder, when "scalability" necessarily becomes local and regional.

At that point, we get separate polities. Not all of them will be good.

and the Moron Corridor who will waste a lot of time and energy pushing for it. They'll be outnumbered by people in the big cities who know what a colossally bad idea it would be to exit the country and have to raise and equip their own military, print their own money with some sort of guarantee behind it, and negotiate difficult trade agreements where previously things could cross borders with no trouble at all.

How does that work?

I'm in a pretty liberal area, but in a western state. Do I have to move to the east coast?

"Europe has separate countries, so why not us? "

I'm not even sure what that means.
