Charge dismissed against woman arrested over VHS copy of J. Lo movie

PICKENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The case was dismissed against a Pickens County woman who was arrested and charged with failing to return a VHS rental of Monster in Law.

Kayla Michelle Finley, 27, was charged with failure to return the video cassette Feb. 13. According to the South Carolina Judicial Department website, the case was dismissed Wednesday.

According to a warrant issued by a magistrate, Finely rented the J. Lo movie Monster-In-Law from Dalton Video in 2005, which is no longer in business, and the tape was not returned within 72 hours.

Finley denied ever getting those warnings. Finley was arrested after a record check showed the offense.

According to a press release issued by the Pickens County Sheriff's Office, the former business owner of Dalton Video notified the court that they wanted the charge withdrawn and did not want the case prosecuted.

That the warrant was still collecting dust out there in some forgotten box but still on record. It's ridiculous. A simple comment telling her... hey, there's a really old warrant out for you about the video.. you need to come take care of it soon.... would have sufficed.

knows if they still even live in SC. For those wondering, Ms. Finley went into the Sheriff's department to file charges of domestic abuse against her husband. That is when she was arrested on the warrant. I wonder if she had to get her allegedly abusive husband to get her out of jail?
