'Werewolf diet' attracts celebrities, critics

PHILADELPHIA - February 26, 2014 (WPVI) -- A new fad diet is creating a lot of buzz. Some say it will help you drop weight fast, but health experts say don't believe the hype.

And I have to agree with that.

It's called the "Werewolf Diet." Celebrities such as Madonna and Demi Moore have reportedly followed it.

It all centers around the phases of the moon.

Like the werewolves in the "Twilight" movies, the 'Werewolf diet' claims to help you get lean and mean.

Howling at the moon is optional.

The premise is to eat according to phases of the moon. The idea is just as the moon influences ocean tides... It can also influence how your body flushes toxins.

Do they taste like people, something like pork I understand? Or do they taste like wolf, similar to dog?

Do werewolves have fleas? Can they get dog/wolf diseases? Can they be trained to play fetch?

"The premise is to eat according to phases of the moon. The idea is just as the moon influences ocean tides... It can also influence how your body flushes toxins."

wtf? Does the moon circle your body? What if I am in one phase facing west, then turn to the north? Whoosh go those toxins to my right hip!

The basic plan says on a new or full moon, you'll fast for 24 hours, only drinking water, or fresh fruit and vegetable juice.

In the extended version, as the moon wanes, you eat a balanced diet and drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.

During the waxing moon, you should eat less, avoid sweets and don't eat after 6 p.m.

Well, all of that is good advice, eat better, avoid sweets but wtf does the ocean tides have to do with that?

The problem with crazy diets is the minute you stop 'em, the weight loss stops, too.

I think the "Eat less/exercise more" diet is the one that works the best. It also helps if the "eat less" part includes nutritious foods and not crap!

Tidal forces don't have any noteworthy effect on bodies of water the size of human beings.

And why isn't orientation of your body key to the diet? If this theory was valid then it would matter which way you are facing.

And why do these tidal forces pull toxins out of your body? To where? Toward the moon?

If just generally pulled free from cells, a month of tidal effect could be approximated by hopping up and down. Once.

To drop a dress size or two. People have been doing this for ever. 24-hour fast followed by a standard diet for two weeks, then switch to a lower carb for the last 2. Repeat. Nothing new about periodical fasting and low carb to drop a size quick.
Sounds to me like someone needed some publicity.
