page release.

Her cocaine use appeared to have "in the time period just immediately prior to her collapse in the bathtub at the hotel," Assistant Chief Coroner Craig Harvey told reporters.

The 60% narrowing of her arteries "suggest a cardiac event complicated by the cocaine use" led to Houston slipping underwater, Harvey said.

"Something happened that caused her to go down and we know that when she slipped under the water she was still alive," he said. "We have evidence of drowning since there was water in the lungs."

The toxicology tests found other drugs in her body, including marijuana, the anti-anxiety drug Xanax, the muscle relaxant Flexeril and the allergy medicine Benadryl, the report said. But these drugs "did not contribute to the death," it said.

The report released Thursday did not disclose the levels

had much more to do with her drowning than cocaine. Unless they actually demonstrate she had a "cardiac event."

Three sedative-like drugs plus a bathtub are not a good combo.

Given a choice, I'd think drowsiness is more likely to lead to drowning, UNLESS they can point to a specific cardiac event.

Or what, are they saying athlerosclerotic arteries cause drowsiness or loss of consciousness? Even so, depressants were clearly present, so how were they ruled out as being involved? I just don't get it, it does not make logical sense.

"The singer also had buildup of plaque in her arteries that can restrict blood flow. Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said the condition is common in drug users, although he said it wasn't clear whether Houston had a heart attack on the day she died."

"She could have had a heart attack," rendering her unconscious, and then become submerged in the filled tub, said Ed Winter, the coroner's deputy chief for operations.

A coroner's report released today shows that Whitney Houston's official cause of death is accidental drowning, with cocaine use and heart disease listed as contributing factors, according to news reports.

ABC News reported that while drowning was Houston's main cause of death, it was aggravated by atherosclerotic heart disease.

Atherosclerotic heart disease occurs when the arteries going to the heart and other organs are hardened because of plaque build-up within the arteries. Atherosclerosis can lead to stroke, heart attack and death, the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute explains.

Seems like she abused a great deal of drugs, both illegal and prescription, and ended up killing herself. An all too familiar story.
