Fomer NFL player Darren Sharper, facing at least 9 counts of rape across 5 states, turns himself in

Former NFL safety and NFL Network analyst Darren Sharper turned himself in to Los Angeles police on Thursday evening without incident after two more rape charges were filed against him. The LAPD confirmed the arrest to CNN.com, but provided no further details.

This came soon after Sharper was charged with two counts of aggravated rape in New Orleans, where a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Sharper was first taken into custody by the Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department on Jan. 17 on sexual assault charges. Bail was set at $200,000, which Sharper posted. He pleaded not guilty to the California charges.

In total, Sharper is now accused of raping nine women, and drugging 11, in five states. There are also reports of rapes in Tempe, Ariz.; Miami; and Las Vegas. According to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s statement, Sharper was charged with drugging and raping two women — one last October and one in January — using zolpidem and morphine to sedate them.

The NFL Network has suspended him indefinitely without pay.

But only because of that pesky condition that requires him to either plead guilty first, or to go through a trial and get convicted...

But I'm pretty sure that he's going to have the opportunity to get quite familiar with the insides of a prison cell before too long.

he would have to face trial in all the states that charge him. He's facing 30 years in California. But the charges he's facing in Louisiana can go up to life without parole. And that's before Arizona, Nevada, and Florida get a hold of him. So it may be a moot point. That's a lot of trials to try to weasel out of. Someone is going to get him.

And who knows...there may be more women out there who haven't come forward yet. It's hard to believe he just recently started doing this.

One of his friends, Erik Nunez, is also being charged with two of the rapes. Investigators say there may be more arrests. So if there multiple people involved, someone is going to sing.
