Former Miss Kentucky reveals she's gay in blog post

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - As a judge ordered Kentucky to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states and countries, former Miss Kentucky Djuan Trent decided to publicly reveal she's gay.

"I am queer," Trent wrote in a blog. "For months, I have been going back and forth with myself on what to write, how to write it, and when to post it. I'll start writing a post and then about midway through the post, I'll stop or I'll keep writing with absolutely no inspiration which, at that point, I'm better off stopping."

Trent graudated from Berea College in 2009. In 2010, she was crowned Miss Kentucky and traveled the state as a spokesperson for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture's "Kentucky Proud" initiative.

In the 2011 Miss America pageant, Trent went on to finish in the top 15.
