Really enjoying the thread discussing who the greatest male actor of the Gen X generation is now that Phillip Seymore Hoffman has passed, and thought it might be interesting to discuss the same for the female actors. There are so many great ones- I'll start by throwing a few names out there. Naomi Watts, Nicole Kidman, and Kate Winslet are all wonderful, IMO. Thoughts?

(8,352 posts)I would have to say that if we are looking at 'star power', number of awards, and diversity of acting roles, my choice for one of the greatest Gen Xer actresses would have to be Julia Roberts.

No one has mentioned Jodie Foster, who can act like nobodies business.
Julianne Moore (who has appeared in too many stolen baby movies but is still a fine actress)
Chloe Sevigny (is great in just about anything she's in)
Hilary Swank (She's won Oscars twice and started out in Beverly Hills 90210)
Angelina Jolie (loved her in Gia)
