Real deputy nabs fake cop along I-95, authorities say

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/broward/oakland-park/fl-deputy-impersonator-arrested-20140228,0,5755516.story

The rigged-out black Chevy Suburban parked along Interstate 95 looked enough like a genuine unmarked police car to fool a real deputy — for a short while.

It actually belonged to a wannabe cop who had recently been dismissed from a volunteer civilian patrol program with the Broward Sheriff's Office, the agency says.

And once he was exposed as a civilian, Philippe Max Elie, 30, of Boynton Beach, was arrested on numerous charges involving impersonating an officer.

"There are people out there who do find some sort of allure to the profession," sheriff's spokeswoman Kayla Concepcion said. "We see it from time to time. There are arrests made."

The guy had all sorts of things in his vehicle, including a loaded weapon. I hope he didn't do more than just "monitor" the HOV lane.
