Hypothetical: Ukraine descends into civil war and starts to break apart. Poland...

moves troops in to protect sympathetic minorities a la the Russian precedent. After occupying significant territory in Ukraine for a period of time, Russia decides Polish troops are not welcome and moves to evict them.

Question: At this point, does Poland qualify for NATO Article V protection?

Dealing with reality is more pressing. Clear thinking is what's needed now. Why not argue how many angels can dance on the head of pin?

Seems a lot more likely than angels dancing on the head of a pin.

Seems like something we should get straight right now: When does Article V kick in?

There remains no obligation under article v to come to the aid of an aggressor.... would depend on what definition NATO choices to label whatever action they would take.

Lviv was a majority Polish city when it was called Lemberg.

Suffice it to say, if it is in the interest of NATO to join forces though, they will.

Something telling me getting run over until tacticals are used.

I find it of interest that you are even going there

That said. I have yet to find the evidence of those forces actually mobilizing. Nope, the two articles so far linked to, have none of that mobilization nonsense in the body of the piece. Mind you, Poles have legitimate reasons to fear the Russians invading POLAND... now in that case Art V does apply.

I wonder how many people here who are hot for one, are going to go see the recruiter in the morning though?
