Nearly 400 arrested outside White House protesting Keystone XL
A photo essay by Jenna Pope
Some students put down a large plastic sheet to signify an oil spill, and then laid down on it for a "die-in".
Although many zip-tied themselves to the fence, others stood by them on the sidewalk. Holding a stationary protest on the sidewalk in front of the White House is grounds for arrest.

(7,321 posts)during the anti-war protests demos during the Iraq Invasion.. Occupy has a great spread sheet documenting that count, but I can't seem locate a source tracking that information wrt to Iraq war demonstrations.
I went over to Answer's website, tried to use their search feature for that, but no luck. figured someone/org has this information.. anyone know where/who?
oh, and I also tried Wikipedia but didn't see any mention of arrests mentioned there
I personally know there were thousands.. but i don't have specifics.
any help in that regard would be great.. thanks for all you do!

(84,711 posts)(As you probably found there are news articles from different cities mentioning arrests that day so one would have to total those up city by city. This looks like an effort to do that by this Oakland blog. There were continuing protests even after the war started but I don't know if there were arrests at any of them. The Mainstream Media mostly didn't report them. ANSWER/United for Peace & Justice held many Demonstrations for years after the invasion and they were large in DC and CA...but, I don't recall any arrests at those.)
