(10,942 posts)well above minimum wage, not nearly enough, but a start. The President most likely visited the restaurant because the owners pay their employees fairly.

That's exactly why they chose a restaurant like Café Beauregard.

First to Review
I was visiting family in CT this holiday and was worried about finding a good place to eat. Well, I'm pretty happy that we found this place on the first day. I went back every day after that! I had a sandwich a day for several days (and had soups and cookies to go with them) and everything I had was dee-frickin'-licious. This rivals any sandwich that I've had in my 5 years in San Francisco. Well played, Beauregard!

(18,402 posts)This has been up for quite a few years (though the prices have increased!). Obama was a frequent patron of this Hyde Park staple, an old-time cafeteria with a broad clientele: local African-Americans, especially the old guys who sit around and discuss politics, and families after church on Sunday, as well as University of Chicago professors and students.
Whenever we're there, my husband (a Southern boy) has to go for the grits and biscuits.

The food looks yummy and the prices are reasonable too! They are teasing the Pres with pie. LOL I bet he had a piece after lunch.
Raise the minimum wage. Yes we can, cause it's long overdue. And it's the right thing to do!
Great OP!
