Money, Not Obamacare, Gave the GOP Its Florida Win

http://www.thenation.com/blog/178806/money-not-obamacare-gave-gop-its-florida-win

***SNIP

Jolly’s campaign raised and spent $1.3 million—barely half the total for Sink, whose background in the financial sector and in politics, as a former gubenatorial candidate, gave her some early advantages. As the campaign played out in February and early March, the polls suggested that Sink might secure an upset

Then Republican-allied national groups rushed to Jolly’s rescue

According to an analysis by Center for Public Integrity:

• The National Republican Congressional Committee poured $2.2 million into the district.

• The US Chamber of Commerce came through with $1.2 million.

• The American Action Network, a group with close ties to the national GOP establishment, ponied up $470,000.

• Karl Rove’s American Crossroads project was good for $470,000.

The Florida Republican Party and other Republican-allied and conservative groups pumped hundreds of thousands of additional dollars into the district.

***personally -- i think it's because what ever money dems spend it sounding defensive -- rather than aggresive and defining their opponents as the unreasonable bastards they are.

NO ONE is doing anything to help the poor and middle class. No one is even bothering to campaign on ideas to do so......

We're all just too damned busy trying to survive and have no reason to lose wages by standing in line to vote.

It's almost as if Democrats in Florida don't care about any other election except the presidential. Every other election seems to be too much trouble for them. I can only hope that they'll have a change of attitude and mind when the midterms roll around and that Charlie Crist wins the gubernatorial.

but they're sure as hell making it as hard as possible TO vote down here, especially if you're a Dem.

They had an election here in Gainesville yesterday, home of the U of FL, and there was a 15% voter turn out. There are THREE freaking polling places within five miles of here in NW section where I live (old people) and almost zero elsewhere in the city. None, zero, nada on campus.

Let's hope people DO have a change in attitude this Fall and make whatever effort is necessary to get these Rep out of office. FL ain't Cali, but it's a big state population wise nonetheless

about Democratic possibilities in DC, no one will go vote for a person who motivates them to apathy. She offered no reason to vote for her and blathered about 'bipartisanism' which of course is stupid is a partisan political two way race.
Florida Democrats have crappy candidates.

the only people po'ed about her comments are those here.

It is going to be a bad year for Dem elections. Voters are buying into the Obamacare message of the repubs.

President. They listen to the cable clueless pundits and take it as fact. I would have Barack Obama at all of my campaign stops. I always believe that it was a mistake for Al Gore to ignore President Clinton when he was running for President. That was not the reason he lost but his numbers could have been untouchable.
