Finally, there is the tea party, which is nominally about lower taxes but in reality is against the modern world. It wants to go back to a different America, one which may or may not have existed for well-off white people living in small rural towns in the 19th century. There is a lot of anger and victimhood here. Sarah Palin is Victim-in-Chief.

The people in the tea party act as if someone did something terrible to them. Even if some are on social security, the government is
"so bad" One word really describes them, "stupid"

Ignorance is lack of knowledge. Stupidity is lack of intelligence or common sense.

In the case of most tea party people I know (and there are a lot in Texas) they have such a limited knowledge of government that manipulation of those with an agenda (mostly greed) is very easy. Guns, God, Gays theme is an easy sale to ignorant people. We desperately need to remove social issues from our political parties but they seem to win elections. I have seen this most of my life and don't expect it to change anytime soon.
