Cell phones on 370

It's probably already been explained, but why wasn't even one cell phone been in use during the flight? I don't mean to report trouble, but rather with 239 people aboard, I'm surprised that at least one passenger didn't call home to turn off the coffeepot and had their call end abruptly when the problem occurred.

I know that efforts to call anyone on the plane were not successful, but if that flight was 4 hours long or over, how did they keep people from calling? Were they all unconscious or what?

Did the plane have those on board phones with satellite connectivity though?

and business/corporation employees....I would think they would have very expensive phones with those capapbilities....

Guess what, I put this thru spellcheck, and it told me two times that there were no errors in spelling. I see capabilities is spelled wrong and spellcheck didn't catch it.

Mystery after mystery....I'm hearing the theme from Duchovny's old program..
Would you believe I forgot the name of the program, his acting name and his co-star's name? I used to live for that program

Most of those types of people stay in areas where they have good connectivity. They don't usually venture out to remote locations where such equipment is needed.

Ahh yeah, the X-files. About a year ago I watched all of the major "arc" episodes on Hulu over a two month period.

I've flown over the US where cell service is excellent and not gotten service. I wouldn't expect to get anything out there.

Now a more interesting question is has anyone tried to trace a cell phone after the disappearance. If that plane landed there has to be at least one working cell phone somewhere.
