I got a car with Sirius radio and listen to many progressive programs as I drive to work

love many of the programs but some of the ads are just horrible. One of the worst is for something called What's your price .com which is a barely concealed prostitution website. So why am I bring this up here? Because I think that the ads you accept do matter. Women, and those who care about women, can't feel entirely comfortable when those ads come on. Progressives ought to care about something other than the all mighty buck.

3. This country has found a way to commoditize relationships

Relationships.

I don't think that I've ever seen that before, not even in Europe or Asia.

Elsewhere, prostitution is a straight business transaction and relationships are just that, relationships.

But in America, they've gone ahead and combined the two.

This is incredible.

4. I got a Sirius radio to listen to Progressive radio

Shortly after they dropped Air America for ESPN. There was a channel from Minnesota public radio, and several other channels I listened to. Sirius dropped those leaving one progressive channel with Bill Press (I liked), Lynn Samuels (a loud mouthed unlikeable personality) a guy named Alex Bennett (see Lynn Samuels). The final straw was Sirius added yet another right wing wacko channel and had the gall to call it Patriot. That did it for me- I cut them off. It always bothered me that to get channels on TV or radio that you have to subsidize those you wouldn't let in your house. If Cable TV or satellite radio want me back they need to let be choose my channels ala carte.

Personally, I find the ads far less offensive than the ones on commercial radio, and they aren't long at all.

9. the problem isn't the existance or length of the ads

it is an ad which quite literally is for a company that sells women for money is on what is billed as a progressive radio channel that is the problem.

One of the key factors about moving to satellite radio was to not be censored...people can swear without getting slapped with a fine by the FCC. To me, that's progressive.

I wouldn't give it up for anything.

13. the talk radio part does have commercials

because I think the talk shows are from radio syndicates and thus have commercials. The music stations don't have commercials. For me it came with my car and I do like the ability to listen to what I want on what is a fairly long work commute.

so I dumped it years ago. I get Thom Hartmann's podcast and listen to that while driving around. I drove my husband's car Friday and he has Sirius XM, but I couldn't find Hartmann on it.
