(111,255 posts)there could have been a shootout and that homeowner would have been taught a real lesson! They'd all have suddenly developed good manners, cuz the gunz are gonna make this country polite!
Never mind about all the neighbors getting their houses shot up during the firefight. They don't count.

(12,041 posts)The gun nuts have pushed laws that put the right to kill above all other rights, a gunner can take every one of your rights in an instant and as long as they say "self defense" they will likely get away with it.

I find that googling "Democratic Underground (insert topic here)" is a great tool for seeing if something was posted before.

(16,199 posts)Usually it was the headline about TPing prank gone wrong.
Or they discussed the man who did the murder getting arrested and charged: http://www.latimes.com/nation/nationnow/la-na-nn-arkansas-shooting-20140217,0,1647739.story

(63,208 posts)GD is awash with duplicate threads on any given day. Hell, the front page routinely includes duplicate stories in the "trending now" field.
It simply seems unrealistic to expect DUers to obtain Google's thumbs-up before posting a potential duplicate story. What's the expiration date, by the way, before a story can be posted? Apparently a month is too short. Maybe 34 days?

(16,199 posts)What is the goal? I don't think anybody here doubts the man is a murderer. And I expect instead this post will get highjacked to continue the simmering feud between pro-gun and anti-gun DUers. I've gotten tired of it myself as no one is changing their minds. It's an I/P style poo flinging fest.

(63,208 posts)Probably right about the likely pro/anti gun discussion though.

Generic Other
(28,979 posts)If I have already seen the story, I can skip it. No skin off my nose. Usually if I open the thread, I have NOT seen the story. But invariably, I will have to waste time reading the post of some self-appointed guardian of all things right and proper on DU chastising someone for daring to post a new thread.
Almost as if some people believe they own the news they link to.
I usually put such posters on ignore if they can't control their need to control others.

(101,311 posts)Lt. Sidney Allen said that Noble is the father of a teenager who was targeted after the pranks were done.
According to a police statement that was released on Feb 18, Mr. Noble stated that he waited inside because he knew whoever vandalized his vehicle was going to come back. Mr. Noble stated that once they returned (about 45 minutes later), he fired his handgun to scare them.
The police also noted that Noble failed to call authorities before or after the shooting occurred. The driver of the mid-size sedan, which had seven teens in it, hurried to a convenience store to call the police. Adrian was in the front passenger seat, and died in the hospital later that evening. Police found that the driver side of the care was pocked with bullet holes.
