Never forget that. So many animals don't get the chance to be loved and cared for like Mousie was. Process your grief in your own time and own way but don't be surprised if in a few weeks/months another little fur baby shows up on your doorstep. They know who the good people are and they'll find you.

It may be too late for you to clip a bit of fur for remembrance. I have a bit of my sweet Chester's fur and a bit of sweet Keiko's fur. Somehow that helps. Gone but not forgotten, even years and years later.

Be a balm for your sorrow.

I see she was almost 17 years old - that's very old for a cat. It reflects well on the loving care you provided her - especially just before she set out for the Rainbow Bridge.

I hope she'll get a chance to play with my Sneakers and Rion ... they'll show her around, I'm sure.

I'm Still Here

Friend, please don't mourn for me
I'm still here, though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day
and within your heart I long to stay.

My body is gone but I'm always near.
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart
as long as you keep me alive in your heart.

I'll never wander out of your sight-
I'm the brightest star on a summer night.
I'll never be beyond your reach-
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.

I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around
and the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.

I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
and you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.

When you start thinking there's no one to love you,
you can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
and you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.

I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.
Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!

Grief is so hard. I've been there too. I know it's a natural part of life, but that doesn't make it any easier.
All you can do right now is be in pain and cry oceans of tears......and know this part doesn't last forever.

Your baby is sending you love; she's pure happy energy now.....

And when you are ready, she may just send a furrbaby in need of love your way.

I had to euthanize one of my cats at 11 last year. It was the right decision, as he was in a lot of pain, but still one of the most painful decisions ever.

...I read an interesting item that gave me pause. The thought expressed was that when we open our hearts to an animal, we do so knowing that, most likely, we will outlive that beloved furry family member.

I had never really thought about that, but it is certainly true. Even though I now am more aware of that perspective, I know it would never stop me from welcoming another kitty into the fold. They each provide so much joy.

Mousie obviously brought you great joy. I hope you get to experience that again when the time is right and a worthy successor finds you. When we have said goodbye to one and hello to another, that is how I think of them - successors. There are, of course, no replacements.

She had a fabulous family with excellent food, healthcare and an abundance of love.

Damn. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry!!!! I'm remembering now when Ernie, our beloved and quirky tuxedo cat, went over.

Mousie will probably run into my Mousetrap up there. He was my cat from when I was nine years old and he was a rescue kitten. Lived to a ripe old age and then just disappeared - didn't come home one night. You know what that usually means. Mousetrap was a gorgeous silky black long-haired grand duke of a cat - with these big sexy tufts of fur between each of his toes. Had to have Persian or some such in his bloodlines somewhere. As a kitten his tail was as bald as a rat's tail. But when his fur grew in he had a huge, rich, fern-like, luxuriously furry tail that reminded me of the fans with which slaves would fan the Pharaoh. Haughty and elegant, and a world-class mouser. Maybe the two of them will compare their naming stories? Ours came from a joke book for kids - "spell 'mousetrap' in three letters. Answer: C-A-T." STILL MISS THAT CAT!!!!

Heck, I miss 'em all when they leave me!

Hopefully, Mousie will meet Ernie, Mousetrap, Tasha, Rao, and so many others who've left us behind and made the jump to light speed.

says always adopt shelter animals because, he says, "They know what you did for them and they will repay you a hundred times over."

He is right, of course, and the important part of what he says is, "They know what you did for them."

Live alone with a cat and a dog; understand the loss. Centenarian once said her success at longevity lay in the fact that every time she lost someone she loved, she reached out and found someone else to love. Best wishes.

There's not mush more to say than has already been said.
My only advice is to NOT hold back the tears. Tears, lots of them are healing.
I know from a sad personal experience. It just postpones the inevitable and make it worse.

I have two dear pugs that are 15 and 14. One is deaf and largely crippled while the other one seems to be doing quite well. We do the best we can and I hope I have them both for several more years.

Our pets are part of our family and are missed as much as any other member of the household, and in some ways, even more.

I'll probably never get over the loss of Kitty. Yeah, that was her name, it just fit her. She was the love of my life.

My wife and I have four kitties now, all of them like our own flesh. But it's awful to lose someone you love so much.

I remember telling myself at one time, I'd rather take the pain myself than have her suffer.

The pix of mousie: adorable. Why don't they live longer.......?

Strength and Courage to you.

Mousie kitty will make new friends and will be happy as happy as possible, but will be waiting for you.

You have been a very good kitty mommie.

I've lost kitties and a puppy, and it is so hard. People who never have pets don't understand just how close those furry friends are.

But Mousie is feeling fine and is a better place--waiting for you.

I hope Mousie gets to know my kitties Beanie and Goldie. I think that they'd be nice friends for Mousie.

She is with you and will never leave. Animals make this world bearable. Hugs to you and your family. I am so sorry. Listen and she will let you know she's still there.

It's been 27 years since my cat died. She always slept with me.
To this day, sometimes when I'm half awake or half asleep, I can sense her curled up next to my chest as I lie in bed.
Whenever I'd roll over to sleep on my other side, she'd always hop over me to lie again next to my chest, I think hearing my heart beat.
