"Silencing a critic is like saying," I'm not going to go to the doctor for my check-up because I don't want to hear negative news""

Halfway through the 1-hour radio show, a great talk about criticism from Richard Wolff.

(62,325 posts)If you are on the right path and someone is lying about you, it's not a big deal because you can easily prove them wrong. However if that is not the case, critics who suspect you might be up to something nefarious, are a real threat to you keeping it a secret. Attempting to silence them therefore, is your only option.
And the more you TRY, the more desperate your efforts become, the more guilty you appear.
It's best not to do stuff that might cause you to NEED to silence critics, imho.

the critic, unlike the doctor, often does not have your best interests at heart. Instead of wanting to make sure you are healthy, or that the state is healthy, sometimes they want to tear down both you, and also your projects. They are not trying to help the country, or make you a better leader, or even hold you accountable. They are just trying to tear you down, to turn people against you, to further their OWN agenda. Or maybe just because they like to complain and because there will always be something to complain about no matter how hard somebody is working. http://journals.democraticunderground.com/hfojvt/163
