Tony Abbott says satellite images have shown some debris that could potentially be from missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370.
The PM told Parliament the news at the beginning of question time on Thursday.
"I would like to inform the House that new and credible information has come to light ..."
The PM says that the Australian Maritime Safety Authority has received information from satellite imagery about two objects that have been identified.
They may be related to the search.

Mr Abbott made the announcement in the Australian parliament this afternoon, but pointed out it has not yet been confirmed whether the objects were from the missing plane.
A press conference is expected to be held just before 6pm NZT.

It's been really strange how this new search area just appeared out of nowhere after AU got a radar hit. It's possible, heck, they may have actually got one but it wasn't "found" until more thorough analysis was done. "Hey, AU, you know, the plane might've went south, might want to get your radar logs at X station around Y time."

(5,252 posts)I don't understand that. If you meant culpability, I don't understand that, either. I don't understand why the US would have known all along. I don't understand you.

If they saw this jet, saw it go down, even, then they couldn't say because it would give away that ability.
