(37,152 posts)- what the people really deserve.
He is the only socialist in Congress. He didn't have the power to even try to "trade it away."
If he were going to stand on principle, he would have voted against it.

(82,383 posts)He would have had to trade a lot more away. Which he did by voting for it.

(32,056 posts)Bernie is independent and is really not a socialist in my view. He's very liberal and he voted for this act because it was the best they could get at the time.

(30,439 posts)The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the Affordable Care Act. Sen. Bernie Sanders welcomed the ruling. "Today is a good day for millions of Americans who have pre-existing conditions who can no longer be rejected by insurance companies. It is a good day for families with children under 26 who can keep their children on their health insurance policies. It is a good day for women who can no longer be charged far higher premiums than men.
"It is a good day for 30 million uninsured Americans who will have access to healthcare. It is a good day for seniors who will continue to see their prescription drug costs go down as the so-called doughnut hole goes away.

(30,439 posts)he said those words the day the Supreme Court upheld the ACA.
Bernie believes in Progress, unlike many of the self-proclaimed progressives pounding away from behind their keyboards.

(37,152 posts)That doesn't mean we shouldn't have done more for the people and less for the corporations.
Like I said, you are obsessed.

If we are serious about providing high-quality, affordable healthcare as a right, not a privilege, the real solution to America's health care crisis is a Medicare-for-all, single-payer system. Until then, we will remain the only major nation that does not provide health care for every man, woman and child as a right of citizenship."

(54,770 posts)If it appeared it was going to be defeated, he would have voted against it and said it wasn't good enough. Politicians play that game all the time.
But, he knew it was better than nothing, and if it had been defeated there would have been no significant health care legislation for at least a decade just like when Hillarycare was defeated.

(9,002 posts)But the real answer which is not in the poll is so that someday his vote could be used as a perceived cudgel by those who really have nothing to add.

(45,319 posts)Because the People elected a candidate who promised a public option and no mandates then acted as if he'd said the opposite the moment he was elected?

(24,544 posts)My favorite was the post from someone quoting a post of mine where I stated quite clearly that I am "currently" in Australia which was somehow irrefutable proof that I am Australian! I don't even want to PRETEND to understand how some of these minds work around here.
I'm a Georgia Peach and always have been but apparently I missed where Georgia was separated from the United States. Did someone let the Atlanta Braves and the King Museum know? Do you think France will be interested in a reverse Louisiana Purchase??

Obamacare How many people will die if the Affordable Care Act is repealed? Sanders asked at a hearing he chaired Thursday on what would happen if Obamacare is repealed. The hearing came on the 10th day of a government shutdown forced by House Republicans insisting that any deal to reopen the government defund the health care law.
