These idiots need to be arrested.
The fate of a sweeping expansion to Georgias gun laws, the subject of much debate and consternation over the course of the past two legislative sessions, was decided in the final hour of the 2014 session late Thursday.
House Bill 60 received final passage by a vote of 112-58 and now goes to Gov. Nathan Deals desk. The approval came despite national efforts by opponents to defeat what they dubbed the guns everywhere bill.
Rep. Rick Jasperse, R-Jasper, the main sponsor of the Houses effort on gun legislation, said its been a long and winding road.
The House has finally come along for Georgias gun owners, said Sen. Bill Heath, R-Bremen.
As lawmakers negotiated behind the scenes, there appeared to be two sticking points: whether to force churches to allow weapons holders to carry guns into houses of worship and whether Georgia will legalize silencers, known technically as suppressors.
The Senate wanted to legalize silencers but ban guns from churches unless specifically authorized; the House wanted to continue to ban silencers but require churches to opt out of allowing weapons.

(36,221 posts)I gave as much as I could. This is just grotesque. They told me on the phone that with the law guns would be allowed in airports.

Gabby's fear mongering approach to battling this legislation was doomed to fail.

(28,762 posts)could be a cure? Indiana like Georgia has a lot of republicans who are more worried about guns than the health of their citizens.

Legalizing medical marijuana didn't.

That means easy access to silencers for someone who wants to get away with murder.

(261 posts)Suppressors are still NFA classified, which means a $200.00 tax stamp, a background check that takes up to 6 months and various other restrictions.
Some Europeon countries require sound suppressors for hunting, why not in the US?
Hollywood has really bastardized the function of a suppressor, it doesn't silence the firearm like you see in the movies, you can still hear the firearm quite clearly when fired, it just suppresses the noise to an acceptable level.
