In an instant, Christie’s contention that no one who attended his town halls had asked about the George Washington Bridge scandal, hence they didn’t care, evaporated.
Was it because she lied or because she was intimately involved in the closure of lanes to the George Washington Bridge that caused a massive traffic jam in the tiny borough?

"I know that if a subordinate lies to you, that’s a big blow to your ego, esteem, self-respect and everything like that," Kanter said. "That is a very self-centered reason to firing somebody."

"I did think that what happened was wrong and abusive, and that it shouldn’t have happened," Christie said. "Now I’m going to put aside the question of whether it’s legal or illegal, because there are prosecutors looking at this and all the rest of it."

The governor said he would have also fired Kelly if she had told the truth about the incident.

But it is all on tape. The only reason Christie gave for firing Kelly was for lying.

When watching Christie it wasn't just the "evil eye" look captured in this photo but the outright anger captured in his eyes during the question. He looked like his head was going to explode. I hope others noticed this dark side of Christie. Mute the sound on that exchange so you can focus on the body language and you will see what I mean.

6. Not that I have any sympathy for Bridget Kelley but

I wonder how she must feel doing what the Big Boss wanted and then being used as the scapegoat when things start to go south. She must have trusted this guy. She must have thought what she was doing was for the greater good.

I just can't put into words what a total pile of scum Chris Christie is. Crapping all over his subordinates just to save his own ass. No doubt he still believes he will be president. What is really sad is there is still a sizable contingent of Republicans who WANT him as president.

Because of that I have never understood why she was so willing to do something that she had to know was illegal. That is not being a good mother, putting her children's future at such a risk. It is hard not seeing her charged with a serious crime -- one that will be more stiff than a fine and community service.

she was carrying out orders, much as many underlings have done over the centuries. And most probably thought the big guy would take the blame if caught and save their ass by telling the truth.

And like most underlings she was betrayed big time by the boss - I just hope that at some time she speaks out.
