Are You There God? It's Me, Hobby Lobby

From Mother Jones:

On Tuesday, the US Supreme Court will hear arguments in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Inc., the most closely watched case of the year. The stakes are high. Thanks to novel legal arguments and bad science, a ruling in favor of the company threatens any number of significant and revolutionary outcomes, from upending a century's worth of settled corporate law to opening the floodgates to religious challenges to every possible federal statute to gutting the contraceptive mandate of the Affordable Care Act.

But here was the newsflash for me. Hobby Lobby already provided Plan B contraceptives!

On many levels, the Hobby Lobby case is a mess of bad facts, political opportunism, and questionable legal theories that might be laughable had some federal courts not taken them seriously. Take for instance Hobby Lobby's argument that providing coverage for Plan B and Ella substantially limits its religious freedom. The company admits in its complaint that until it considered filing the suit in 2012, its generous health insurance plan actually covered Plan B and Ella (though not IUDs). The burden of this coverage was apparently so insignificant that God, and Hobby Lobby executives, never noticed it until the mandate became a political issue.

I remember when they started down on tenth street in OKC. Since then they have become one of the largest importers of cheap chinese-made goods. Destroyed almost all of the local hobby shops in this country and almost everything they carry is cheap. I tried to use some stained glass from there and it was awful stuff that flared and splintered. Have not stepped foot in one in ten years.

The fact that they are the largest retailer in america to not use UPC codes (Sign of the Antichrist) at their cash registers says a lot about what kind of religious nuts run the place.

And then the fact that they brag about being closed on Sundays so their employees can WORSHIP tells me they do not employ non-christians so basically fuck em.

Until this case. I wonder what the Supreme Court is going to do. Kennedy????? I guess it is Justice Kennedy who will decide this as he has in many cases. However, remember Justice Roberts voted to keep Obamacare in that one Supreme Court ruling so who knows.

I hadn't heard that, but I checked around and by George, you're right! Apparently there's a whole mythology around there being the Mark of the Beast in UPC bar codes. Thanks for the hoot of the day!

...discussion of Hobby Lobby, most of the crap in their stores is made in China, where, until very recently, abortions was rampant because of their one-child-per-family policy. So, Hobby Lobby has been supporting practices it purports to find unacceptable.

is dishonest and is done the with write offs in mind. Everything they do requires ripping off either the customer or the state. I wouldn't spend one cent in there.
