Stickied FAQ thread on navigating the ACA and the American health care system

I admit, I do not possess enough knowledge to do this.

Any volunteers on starting this ? We can all add to it as we go along.

Thanks for listening.

4. I think it has been asked for before in ATA to have a thread stickied

11. In all honesty, a sticky linking to healthcare.gov is probably enough

The site - despite its launch problems - is actually pretty good.

I know just enough about ACA right now to be dangerous. Unless you are certified, you should not be answering specific questions about it.

I think people who fight with insurance companies, doctors and hospitals tend to take knowledge for granted. I think there needs to be a place or a forum where information is shared. Knowledge and collaboration is power. Now...if one chooses not to avail oneself of that information, that's their own responsibility.

15. I have some knowledge but I wouldn't trust myself to be that kind of voice here

In general, I don't think any message board should take on that responsibility. The companies that guide this process for providers have to get something like 80 hours of training for each employee. Find those companies.

16. I'd like phone numbers and addresses, etc for people to do just that

I'm not doing this for myself. I'm one of the lucky ones who *knock on wood* is pretty healthy with a good plan. I do understand your points. I would never ask anyone to provide detailed medical or legal, etc advice on here. All we can do is say, "Here is the way you need to go to find answers. The rest is up to you".
