Evidence that American's have figured out the Koch brothers

http://takingnote.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/03/24/facts-figures-the-koch-brothers/?_php=true&_type=blogs&_r=0

Facts & Figures: The Koch Brothers

Slate’s David Weigel looked at fundraising emails from a Democratic campaign and, based on a non-scientific sample, found that criticizing the Koch brothers can triple the haul.

I’ve seen some numbers from fundraising emails from one campaign that were sent from roughly mid-January to mid-March, pretty bad news cycles for the party. Nineteen emails didn’t mention the Kochs. They raised, in total, $48,146.30, for an average of $2,534.02 per message.

But five emails mentioned, in at least some way, the Koch brothers. Those asks raised $32,668.72, an average of $6,533.74 per email.

to extend this to boycotting shit the Kochs own (which is nearly everything, of course!). Would love to see a powerful movement form of putting an end to the worship of such greed.

I would bet dollars to donuts that 87% of Americans have never heard of the Koch brothers, or even if they've heard the name, do not know anything about them.

A $6,500 haul on any email is not large; in fact, it's minuscule when you consider the number of emails probably sent. All this data tells us is that among the people on whatever campaign email list is being targeted, the mention of Koch Brothers will get a rise out of a very small subset of them.

I once had to sit in on a focus group for the DCCC about email fundraising letters, and what language would attract people. Bush bashing was the big winner. It's always having the boogie man that makes people open their wallets. For Republicans, I suppose mentioning Nancy Pelosi is a big motivator.

Me? I don't fall for this stuff. I give == but when I want to, on my terms.
