The 7 million now under Obamacare doesn't include the people who enrolled

in the 14 state exchanges on the last day. Nor, of course, the ones who began but didn't complete applications.

New York, California, and Washington are among the states with their own exchanges. So the final number will be substantially higher.

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/02/us/politics/obama-to-report-on-progress-of-health-care-law.html?hp&_r=0

The 7,041,000 people signed up by midnight did not count those who enrolled on Monday in the 14 states that run their own insurance exchanges, nor those who may yet sign up under an extension for those who tried but were unable to complete applications in time.

About 58,000 people under the projection, 178,000 enrolled. The website is a embarrassment.

who bought insurance directly from insurers.

All told, I've read that it could be well over 15 million.

It took 4 tries to enroll. The first two times,I just did not receive the email. I dont know why. The third time, I copied the ID number pasted it. The web site said it was the wrong number. So I clicked out I cannot deal with that kind of drama.
On the last day, I decided to try again.[keep in mind that I do not have ins. I am poor]
I completed my registration. Horay. They gave me a PDF file that my old laptop could not open.
Ofcourse.
So, there we are. I have an account.

9. It doesn't include those who enrolled off the exchanges either

through private sites like ehealth, gohealth, connecthealth, etc. or through brokers or directly through the insurance companies. It doesn't include those who marched into their boss's office and signed up for their employer plan if they hadn't done it before. Or the employers who decided to start offering it anyway, even though the employer mandate doesn't begin yet.

And people can still sign up if something changes like a new birth or a new job or whatever.

Medicaid signups are year round. Some states are still contemplating the expansion.

And only 6 months until next year's open enrollment period begins!!! I really hope some of these sites get repaired in that time. MD is completely changing ours. Oregon needs to fix theirs.
