OBAMA: “I don’t get it. Why are folks working so hard for people not to have health insurance?"

THE PRESIDENT:

“I don’t get it. Why are folks working so hard for people not to have health insurance? Why are they so mad about the idea of folks having health insurance? Many of the tall tales that have been told about this law have been debunked. There are still no death panels. Armageddon has not arrived. Instead, this law is helping millions of Americans, and in the coming years it will help millions more.”

..................

“In the end,” Obama said, “history is not kind to those who would deny Americans their basic economic security.”

...because being poor is a sign of moral failing and an individual character flaw, according to the doctrine of the Right.

Obama's issue is that he assumes the Righ-however much they vocally and viciously disagree with his policies-actually want to improve the lives of ordinary people. On the contrary; they wish to make us miserable, in a state of begging for any fallen scraps from our "betters."

Having a democrat implement health care and have it work is going to turn people away from the GOP. SS did that. Republicans don't like it because it hurts their election prospects. that's all that matters to them. People should really consider that as a reason NOT to elect Republicans.

But I think it will only happen IF Democratic politicians start attacking, fighting back, and using all the ammunition given to them by these lice.
I mean.. it's laying right there in front of them. All they have to do it pick it up and throw it all over the media, 24/7, every day, from now until November.

How hard is that? Any idiot could write the ads...

to wage a MASSIVE campaign to make sure everybody in those states know exactly who is willing to personally, physically, emotionally and financially hurt & damage the very people they are supposed to be serving.

They need to make it politically untenable to NOT expand Medicaid.

The cruelty is just astounding

There is no reason for the republican governors to "NOT" expand Medicaid, except just for spite. From now till election day people like you that are being hurt by their actions need to make sure everyone in your stat doesn't forget about this. It needs to be front and center so come election time it is "the" issue that will get the voters out, no matter what party they are in. It's not just democrats that are in this boat, but independents, republicans, libertarians, and others. While some of them may never think about voting for a democrat, if they are pissed off enough they might not vote at all, others will may be so damned mad they will vote for the person that wants to make damn sure they get the help they need, and that won't be a republican.

I am sorry you aren't able to get on Medicaid, and I hope that the voters in you state let the republican know just how mad they really are!

That can't let the black man win, that's all there is to it. How does it hurt them that African Americans get civil rights or that hippies have long hair or that gay people want to get married? It doesn't. It's prejudice, pure unadulterated prejudice. Some people can't stand other people getting what they need.

35. Two attitudes I think can attribute
Tue Apr 1, 2014, 11:02 PM
Apr 2014

to their not expanding of Medicaid. One is they believe the people should pay for their own health care. In theory I agree IF you can comfortably afford it, but so many can't. I think some forget how difficult it can be to work for very little and not be able to afford it. Paying in cash is a joke, and the premiums were just too much, all the while the insurance companies trying to get out of paying for things. Prices are out of control. If things carried on the way they did, only millionaires were going to be able to afford it. The other reason is politics, which I think is despicable to play with people's lives just to make a political point because you don't agree with the ACA.

I wanted single payer, but we take what we can get.

Conservatives in the US anyway thrive on spreading and believing pure BS with unflinching certainty. They literally count on people to not know any better or not seek evidence to support opinions. Conservative by their very nature believe the future is going to bad and the past was better.

Its a very different thought universe than the one liberals live in, and our country's population is trending more liberal as more crotchety old conservatives die off. Just look at the recent advances in our society's views on women's and gay rights.
