Reporter Charlie Bird was hoping to get some stunning close-up footage of seals on a recent trip to Antarctica
and he got more than he bargained for! Watch as the adorable sea puppy inches closer and closer until the cute baby seal is actually laying on top of him. You can tell by Charlies expressions and comments that he is totally blown away but whats just happened.

(2,086 posts)You're absolutely correct and it is wrong to encourage this behavior.
The problems with Yellowstone bears have been severely minimized because of those type restrictions.
It's cute, but bad for the animals.

(50,566 posts)How did he know that an angry mommy seal wasn't going to come barreling up to him to protect her pup? Also, an adorable dark-eyed seal is still a wild animal. I'd be afraid it would suddenly startle and sink its teeth into my flesh, muscle, and maybe bone. Sometimes people are just a bit too confident around wildlife.

(8,028 posts)...you can see the love in that seal's eyes. I have a cat that does that exact same thing to me. She exudes love and trust while laying on or pushed up against me, all stretched out, with her eyes closed and a look of utter bliss, just like that seal was doing.
