3. For better or worse, keep this in mind

Free Republic doesn't represent the mainstream GOP any more than we represent the mainstream of the Democratic Party. Both DU and Free Republic tend to skew farther from the center than the typical party member. So while many Dems, such as myself and many who've been suveyed, support Hillary Clinton, you'd see very little support for Clinton here at DU. FR is not terribly different. They want someone far right of center, such as Ted Cruz or Sarah Palin.

Having said that, both FR and DU have this in common: they tend to represent the membership of their respective parties who organize, and who vote in primaries.

they will vote for him over the Democrat in the general election. Except for the Bush brand he is a much stronger candidate than Romney. I see him starting with all of Romney's states. Is he popular enough to pull Florida, Virginia, Ohio or Pennsylvania, and one other? - we will see.

11. They had the same reaction to Romney

with most of them declaring that they refuse to vote for him, even if he got the nomination.

Have to admit, it was funny to watch the mass melt down over this dilemma.

Their candidate SUCKED, and everyone knew it.

5. I believe he's far more interested in fundraising at this juncture, money for his pockets. . .

8. Freerepublic is very unrepresentative of the Republican Party

"RINO's" are the most hated kind of Republicans, yet what Freepers consider "RINO'S" (Romney and McCain) won the last two primaries.
Besides, as another member noted in this thread, right-wing nuts may say they won't vote for this or that Republican against a Democrat, but that will change as things heat up and we approach the General Elections.

when there was an assumed Inevitability of Presidents Kennedy. It was clear that after JFK, RFK would be president, and then a few terms later Teddy. Even after RFK was assassinated and Teddy's presidential hopefuls died a slow and painful death, there was always the next generation. Surely they'd occupy politics en masse, right?

That's not what happened. A handful went into politics, but they're all out by now, pursuing different things.

And so with the Bushes. The notion that there's a steady stream of incoming Bushes who will occupy the White House or anyplace else just isn't realistic. Won't happen.

Not to mention we really do need new blood at every level.

they will be told that Democrats nominated the most liberal, socialist, communist, fascist, gun stealing, liberty hating person and all they need in a President is the ability to hold a pen and sign all those bills sent to him by true God fearing, gun carrying, freedom loving, true Conservatives.

At this point before the 2012 election, he was "zotting" (banning) pro-Romney people. After Romney became the Republican candidate, he started banning people who were still anti-Romney.

I don't remember 2008 as clearly, bu I think there was a similar pattern about McCain.

What they say now means nothing.
